Goals & Tasks

 
GOAL I: IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF WOMEN WHO ARE  ADDICTED
TASK 1: Improve access to substance abuse treatment and prenatal care for pregnant women with substance abuse problems
TASK 2: Support Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) for addicted women in prison
TASK 3: Help pregnant and mothering women charged with crimes to keep their families intact

 
GOAL II: IMPROVE REENTRY OUTCOMES FOR WOMEN
TASK 1: Reduce the number of women returned to prison as probation and parole violators
TASK 2: Empower ex-offender women to become activists in their communities
TASK 3: Create new mentoring programs for incarcerated women prior to release
TASK 4: Reduce legal problems for women leaving prison

 
GOAL III: IMPROVE CONDITIONS FOR WOMEN IN PRISON
TASK 1: Help ensure the safety of women in prison
TASK 2: Reduce homophobia against women in prison
TASK 3: Ensure that all programming for women in prison is gender specific and evidence based

 
GOAL IV: IMPLEMENT THE SENATE MEMORIAL 40 TASK FORCE STRATEGIC PLAN FOR GIRLS
TASK 1: Use gender specific, evidence based programming to divert youth from the juvenile justice system
TASK 2: Work with CYFD and the Statewide Single Entity, & the Behavioral Health Purchasing Collaborative, to create a gender responsive certification program for all service types

 
GOAL V: REDUCE COLLATERAL CONSEQUENCES OF INCARCERATION
TASK 1: Help female ex-offenders find appropriate housing by reducing barriers to HUD and Section 8 housing
TASK 2: Reduce the impact of  family alcoholism and addiction
TASK 3: Reduce the impact of domestic violence
TASK 4: Encourage diversion programs that help arrested women charged with minor crimes
